As one of the most iconic vehicles on the market, the Ford F-150 has certainly changed over the years, but it’s always stayed true to the roots that we know and love. We at Quality Auto Mall, your Ford dealership for new and pre-owned inventory, are huge fans of this pickup truck, which is why we’ve decided to outline and honor its journey to how it has become one of the best-selling trucks in America.
It all starts in 1917 when the Ford brand produced its very first pickup truck, the Ford Model TT. It was a version of the Ford Model T car, but with a reinforced chassis and a rear axle. It even offered a large bed to fit more cargo than anything else could offer at that time. The Model AA was then produced nine years later. Both versions helped show farmers and other businesses how crucial it was for them to be able to haul their own cargo.
After World War II, the Ford brand continued to make new vehicles and manufactured the Ford F1, which is the closest design to the modern Ford F-150. The Ford F1 had a pickup truck design composed of a covered cab and a bed made of extremely strong materials. At the end of the 1950s, the Ford F1 became the Ford F100 equipped with four-wheel drive. Shortly after this, in 1975, Ford engineers created the Ford F-150, which followed EPA regulations and new requirements.
To this day, this truck is the Ford manufacturer’s pride and joy. And on average, the brand sells two of these models every minute.
